ADMINISTRATION
OVERVIEW OF ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT
The Administration Department has been in existence since inception of the Hospital, the main function of the department is to assist the Medical Director in the day to day running affairs of the hospital, carryout administrative functions and coordinates activities of the non-clinical support services units with a view to effective and efficient service delivery.
The Head of Administration Department also serves as the Secretary to the Board of Management of the Hospital and his office serves as the secretariat of the Hospital’s Board of Management and its committees, advising on and implementing all decision and policies as they affect the hospital, determine or directed by the Board of Management or the Ministry of Health from time to time.
UNITS IN THE ADMIN DEPARTMENT
The department is made up of the following units through which it carries out its functions:
Office of the Director of Admin: Coordinates the entire activities of the department.
Human Resource Unit: Handles establishment matters i.e Appointment, Promotion, Discipline and other related personnel matters, the Unit have four (4) sections viz; Registry, Senior Staff Promotion and Appointment, Junior Staff Promotion and Appointment and Discipline and Industrial Relation section. It is currently headed by Mr. Temitope John Dawodu, a Deputy Director of Admin.
Pension and Staff Welfare Unit: Handles issues relating to staff exits including managing retirement matters of the exited staff and staff welfare. The unit is currently headed by Malam Kabir Abdulsalam, a Deputy Director of Admin.
General Admin Unit: Coordinates the day to day activities of the non-clinical departments under the Administration Department. The Unit is currently headed by Mal. Garba Bedi, an Assistant Director of Admin.
Budget, Planning, Statistics and Quality Assurance Unit: It was formerly planning unit but the scope of the unit recently expanded and renamed Budget, Planning, Statistics and Quality Assurance Unit responsible for physical development and implementing all programmes of the hospital process constraints and keep hospital statistics. It coordinates preparation and implementation of the of the hospital annual budget. It shall monitor performance of all contractors engaged by the hospital. The unit is currently headed by Mal. Ibrahim Abdulaziz, a Deputy Director of Admin.
Research Education and Training (RET) Unit: The Unit essentially provides Administrative support to the Head of RET in coordinating all training matters particularly training of Resident Doctors in Orthopaedic and Burns and Plastic Surgery, the unit also coordinates trainings of the hospital schools comprising Post-Basic Training of Nursing in the specialty of Orthopaedic, Accident and Emergency, Burns and Plastic and training of technicians in Orthopaedic Cast Technology and Prosthetic and Orthotics as well as other human capacity training of staff both long and short-term through workshops and seminars. The unit is currently headed by Mal. Rilwan Yusuf, and Assistant Director of Admin.
Clinical Services and Training Unit: Provides Administrative support to the Head of Clinical Services and Training in coordinating all the clinical matters including departments under the Head of Clinical Services and Training. The Unit is currently headed by Mal. Murtala Rasheed Rafindadi. A Chief Admin Officer.
STAFF STRENGH
Administration Department has a total number of two hundred and forty-one (241) staff strength comprising Admin Officers, Executive Officers (General Duties), Confidential Secretaries, Information Officers, Statisticians and Clerical Officers
BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF THE DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTARTION AND THE HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT MALAM NASIR HARAZIMI.
Malam Nasir Harazimi was born on 20th August, 1967. He attended Sabon-Gida Primary School Ringim (now in Jigawa State) from (1974 – 1980) after which he proceeded to Kano Teachers College Kano from 1980 to 1985 where he obtained a Grade II Teachers Certificate. He got admission at Bayero University Kano in 1986 for a 4 term pre-degree course at the School of General Studies after which he was absorbed for a degree program for a Bachelor Degree in Education/History which he completed in 1990. He then proceeded for the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps in Benue State from 1990 – 1991. He enrolled into Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Masters Degree in Business Administration in 1997 and 2002 respectively.
He joined the services of National Orthopaedic Hospital Dala Kano on the 10th of August, 1992 as Assistant Secretary II (Admin Officer II) and rose through promotion to the post of Deputy Director of Admin in 2016 and was subsequently appointed as Director of Admin with effect from 1st April, 2021 by the 5th Board of Management of the Hospital. The position he holds currently.
