Pharmacy
The Pharmacy Department is responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and reliable supply of medicines to support quality patient care. The department manages medication procurement, storage, dispensing, and inventory control while promoting the rational use of medicines within the hospital.
Working closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the pharmacy team helps optimize treatment outcomes, prevent medication errors, and provide drug information services.
The department is also committed to professional development by providing training and mentorship for intern pharmacists, contributing to the growth of competent pharmacy professionals.
The department comprises of eight (8) units namely:
Accident & Emergency Unit
Provides pharmaceutical care services
Inventory control management
Operates for 24 hours
Provides medical consumables
Anaesthesia Unit:
Provides anaesthetic drugs
Inventory control management
Member theatre committee
In-Patient Unit
Provides drugs to patients on admission
Drug information services to prescribers
Inventory control management
Drug Ledger Maintenance
Retainership services (CBN, NNPC, YOLA family, AMASCO)
Closing of patients bill after discharge
Store Unit
Procure all the drugs/medical consumables used by the hospital
Store inventory management
Distribute drugs to the units

Drug provision for NHIS patients
Provides pharmaceutical care services

Spinal Unit:
Drug provision for Spine patients
Provides anaesthetic drugs for spine patients

Surgical Out Patient Unit:
Drug dispensing to outpatient/followup

Compounding Unit: Produces extemporaneous products such as oral morphine and hand sanitizer.
