The Statutory Functions of Engineering Services Department
The statutory function of the Engineering Services Department is to provide Engineering support services in form of planning, designing, construction and maintenance of hospital infrastructures.
Engineering Department maintains and keep in good working condition, hospital buildings, Power Generators, Water distribution system, Boiler, Laundry equipment and all Engineering appliances used in the hospital.  The department equally liaises between the hospital and outside Engineering establishment for the provision of the support services contracted outside.
SERVICE RENDERED
The statutory function of Engineering services department is providing Engineering services in the following areas;
Maintenance of existing Hospital infrastructures
Building, Electrical wiring & fittings, water facilities etc.
Supply & distribution of electricity and maintenance of power supply facilities
Water generation, storage and distribution
Conceptual design, modification, renovation only of both existing and new project to enhance patients care and create a conducive environment to the workforce
To advice Management on all technical issues relating to its functions, to guide decision & policy making
Liaises between the Hospital and outside Engineering establishment(s) for the
provision of supports services outsourced and outsourcing of resources

HEAD OF DEPARTMENT BIOGRAPHY
Engr. Mudashir Olawale Sunmonu, he is a Director of Engineering and Head, department of Engineering Services, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala – Kano, Reg. Engr. (COREN), hold Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Post Graduate Diploma in Management and in Technical Education.  He has work in several establishments, both in private and public sectors with experience in industrial and Production Engineering, Process Engineering (Gas), Local Content Development, Mechanical Engineering in Plant Services and Maintenance, Automotive and Heavy Duty, Mechanical Design, Project and Facility Management and procurement Management and cryogenic Engineering.
